Summit Hill PA Summit Hill is a borough in Carbon County, Pennsylvania. It is located in the northeastern part of the state, about 40 miles away from Allentown. The borough also makes up the Lehigh Valley, a metropolitan area in eastern Pennsylvania. According to the United States Census Bureau, as of 2000, Summit Hill has 2,974 residents. The borough has a total area of 9.4 square miles of which, 8.9 square miles of it is land and 0.5 square miles of it is water. Summit Hill is known for its hilly landscape with an of elevation 837 feet above sea level. The racial makeup of Summit Hill is 98.99% White, 0.07% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.07% from other races, and 0.61% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.40% of the population. Summit Hill has about 1,300 households. The median income for a household in the borough is $37,287, and the median income for a family is $44,500. Carbon County is surrounded by five counties in eastern Pennsylvania. It has a population of only about 60,000 people living in an area of 387 square miles. Carbon County has just over 20 municipalities, consisting of boroughs and townships. The county seat is Jim Thorpe. Carbon County is served by Lehigh Carbon Community College. The county has six school districts. The county is home to three Pennsylvania State Parks, Beltzville State Park, Lehigh Gorge State Park, Hickory Run State Park.
